Safana Represents Katsina at National Health Financing Dialogue in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria – The Director General of the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA), Mohammed Safana, has joined a high-level panel at the ongoing National Health Financing Dialogue in Abuja.

Safana took part in a technical session on “State and Local Government Resource Mobilisation and Its Implications for Healthcare Financing Revenue in Nigeria,” alongside other experts and policymakers.

The panel explored fiscal challenges facing states and local governments, while examining innovative mechanisms to mobilise domestic resources and strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Speaking on behalf of Katsina State, Safana highlighted strategies adopted to expand enrolment under the contributory health scheme and secure sustainable funding for primary healthcare. He stressed the importance of fiscal decentralisation, community participation, and strategic partnerships in improving service delivery.

Safana reaffirmed Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to healthcare reform, praising his administration’s focus on expanding access to essential services and building resilient health institutions. He also commended Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Musa Adamu Funtua, for leading policy reforms and inter-agency collaboration that align with national health financing priorities.

The event drew senior officials including the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the Director General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and development partners, all of whom pledged support for advancing Nigeria’s health financing reforms.
